Providing food and support to families struggling during the school holidays.
There are approximately 170 non-school days a year where children receiving Free School Meals (FSM) cannot access this food. Having children at home means having to find more food, childcare, and ways to entertain children, all of which costs money. This puts pressure on household budgets making it even harder to ensure that children and families are eating well.
This summer, we are running Clubs in W12 and SW6 during August. We are so grateful to all of our volunteers both local people, and corporate teams, who help us ensure that children and their parents/carers have a lot of fun, and a delicious meal! Our Clubs are aimed primarily at families with children aged between 3 and 11, most of which are referred to us. Last Summer, one parent commented, “money has been a major factor this summer and the holiday club has been a godsend”.
Our Clubs during Summer 2018 are being funded through the Big Give – allowing locals to donate funds, which were then matched. Watch this space for an update on how Summer 2018 went, and for information about future Holiday Clubs.
